The Cavanagh House
The Schuster Foundation partners with The Cavanagh house by sponsoring students and making yearly donations to the organization.
The Cavanagh House (TCH) is a volunteer-driven 501(c)(3) non-profit, focused on workforce development in upholstery and fashion. Through free trade and apprenticeship programs, TCH equips individuals with the training and support needed for financial stability. Dedicated to revitalizing Baltimore's declining upholstery and fashion industries, TCH serves as a hub for skilled workers and entrepreneurs.
TCH's self-paced programs have graduation targets of 12-15 months for the fashion program and 24 months for upholstery, with specific milestones guiding students through training phases. The "Co-op Entrepreneur Program" provides upholstery graduates with a shared workroom space at a reduced cost, equipment access, and mentorship. There are plans to extend this program to fashion students, including a mandatory business finance course with M&T Bank.
TCH further supports students with services like transportation assistance via MTA Charm Cards or volunteer drivers, along with job placement aid.
